Sejarah Microsoft Office Update 2022 - Mengawali postingan di Blog Office Tutorials ini, kami akan membahas mengenai sejarah perkembangan Microsoft Office dari awal munculnya hingga produk terakhir yang diluncurkan sampai pada tahun 2022 ini.

Ketika berbicara tentang otomatisasi pekerjaan dan komputansi perkantoran, hal pertama yang terlintas dalam pikiran adalah penggunaan Microsoft Office. Fungsi Microsoft Office tentu saja cukup penting untuk menunjang berbagai pekerjaan yang berkaitan dengan multimedia. Saat ini, hampir sseluruh pekerjaan kantor memerlukan dan menggunakan program Microsoft Office.

A. Definition of Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office adalah perangkat lunak paket aplikasi perkantoran buatan Microsoft dan dirancang untuk dijalankan di bawah sistem operasi Microsoft Windows dan Mac OS X. Pertama kali diluncurkan untuk Mac OS pada tahun 1989 dan kemudian pada tahun 1990 untuk Windows.

Microsoft office sendiri merupakan aplikasi perangkat lunak yang dimanfaatkan untuk mengolah, menyimpan, dan mengombinasikan data berbentuk dokumen. Data yang dapat diolah yakni, data digital berupa huruf, gambar dan angka.

Didalam Microsoft Office terdapat beberapa komponen atau aplikasi yang disertakan disetiap versi yang dikeluarkan. Beberapa komponen/aplikasi standar yang kita kenal dan umumnya digunakan banyak pengguna yaitu:

1.  Microsoft Office Excel🔗

   Microsoft Office Excel adalah sebuah program aplikasi lembar kerja spreadsheet yang dibuat dan didistribusikan oleh Microsoft Corporation untuk sistem operasi Microsoft Windows dan Mac OS. Aplikasi ini memiliki fitur kalkulasi dengan berbagai macam rumus Excel dan pembuatan grafik, dengan menggunakan strategi marketing Microsoft yang agresif, menjadikan Microsoft Excel sebagai salah satu program komputer yang populer digunakan di dalam komputer mikro hingga saat ini.

   Bahkan, saat ini program ini merupakan program spreadsheet paling banyak digunakan oleh banyak pihak, baik di platform PC berbasis Windows maupun platform Macintosh berbasis Mac OS, semenjak versi 5.0 diterbitkan pada tahun 1993.
   

2.  Microsoft Office Word🔗

   Microsoft Office Word adalah perangkat lunak pengolah kata (word processor) andalan Microsoft. Pertama diterbitkan pada 1983 dengan nama Multi-Tool Word untuk Xenix, versi-versi lain kemudian dikembangkan untuk berbagai sistem operasi, misalnya DOS (1983), Apple Macintosh (1984), SCO UNIX, OS/2, dan Microsoft Windows (1989). Setelah menjadi bagian dari Microsoft Office System 2003 dan 2007 diberi nama Microsoft Office Word.

3. Microsoft Office Outlook🔗

   Microsoft Office Outlook adalah sebuah program personal information manager dari Microsoft, dan bagian dari suite Microsoft Office. Walaupun biasanya hanya digunakan untuk mengirim dan membaca email, program ini juga memiliki fungsi kalender, jadwal kerja, catatan, dan jurnal. Bila digunakan bersama dengan Microsoft Exchange Server, Outlook dapat menyediakan akses kotak surat, kalender, dan jadwal bersama.
   

4. Microsoft Office PowerPoint🔗

   Microsoft Office PowerPoint  adalah sebuah program komputer untuk presentasi yang dikembangkan oleh Microsoft di dalam paket aplikasi kantoran mereka, Microsoft Office, selain Microsoft Word, Excel, Access dan beberapa program lainnya.

   PowerPoint berjalan di atas komputer PC berbasis sistem operasi Microsoft Windows dan juga Apple Macintosh yang menggunakan sistem operasi Apple Mac OS, meskipun pada awalnya aplikasi ini berjalan di atas sistem operasi Xenix. Aplikasi ini sangat banyak digunakan, apalagi oleh kalangan perkantoran dan pebisnis, para pendidik, siswa, dan trainer.

   Dimulai pada versi Microsoft Office System 2003, Microsoft mengganti nama dari sebelumnya Microsoft PowerPoint saja menjadi Microsoft Office PowerPoint. Lalu, pada Office 2013, namanya cukup disingkat PowerPoint.

5. Microsoft Office Access🔗

   Microsoft Office Access adalah sebuah program aplikasi basis data komputer relasional yang ditujukan untuk kalangan rumahan dan perusahaan kecil hingga menengah. Aplikasi ini merupakan anggota dari beberapa aplikasi Microsoft Office, selain tentunya Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, dan Microsoft PowerPoint. Aplikasi ini menggunakan mesin basis data Microsoft Jet Database Engine, dan juga menggunakan tampilan grafis yang intuitif sehingga memudahkan pengguna. 
   

6. Microsoft Office OneNote🔗

   Microsoft Office OneNote adalah program untuk membuat catatan dengan fitur kolaborasi multi-pengguna yang dikembangkan oleh Microsoft. Program ini digunakan untuk mengolah catatan pengguna, gambar, kliping layar dan komentar audio. Catatan dapat dibagikan dengan pengguna OneNote lainnya melalui Internet atau jaringan. 
   

B. Microsoft Office Versions

Untuk lebih memahami, kami telah merangkum sejarah (history) dari Microsoft Office, namun secara khusus hanya Office yang digunakan pada Sistem Operasi Windows saja, mulai dari awal pertama diluncurkan hingga saat ini (Tahun 2022) sebagaimana dibawah ini:

1. Microsoft Office 1.0

Microsoft Office diperkenalkan secara resmi pada 19 November 1990 dengan meluncurkan Microsoft Office Office 1.0 dan kehadirannya mampu menggeser dan mengambil alih pengguna dari "WordPerfect" yang saat itu terkenal dengan aplikasi Word-nya.

Faktor utama untuk kesuksesan besar MS Office adalah tersedianya sistem pintasan keyboard yang bertentangan dengan sistem pemformatan WordPerfect yang mengharuskan pengguna mengetikkan kode khusus tertentu dan kelebihan fitur ini sangat disukai oleh pengguna.

2. Microsoft Office 1.5

Microsoft office 1.5 dirilis pada 04 Maret 1991, dimana microsoft excel mengalami peningkatan ke excel 3.0. Mixrosoft excel veri 3.0 ini merupakan versi lanjutan dan lebih baik dari sebelumnya karena pihak microsoft mengembangkan versi ini sesuai dengan permintaan penggunanya dan mengintegrasikan dengan ide excel yang ada sebelumnya. Peningkatan pada microsoft excel versi baru ini terdapat toolbar yang dapat digunakan oleh penggunanya untuk melakukan sesuatu dengan satu kali klik saja.

3. Microsoft Office 1.6

Pada 08 Juli 1991, Microsoft Office 1.6 dikeluarkan sebagai lanjutan dari versi 1.5 sebelumnya dengan sedikit penambahan aplikasi yaitu Mail 2.1.

4. Microsoft Office 3.0

Masih melanjutkan office yang sebelumnya dengan merilis Microsoft Office 2.5 pada tahun 1992, namun masih terdapat berbagai kekurangan yang kemudian diperbaiki oleh versi selanjutnya yaitu Microsoft Office 3.0 yang dirilis 30 Agustus 1992 dengan penambahan fungsi yang support pada windows N.T 4.0.

5. Microsoft Office 4.0

Di Microsoft Office 4.0 ini melakukan perombakan besar-besaran pada interface (antarmuka) dan fokus kepada peningkatan dan performatan aplikasi Word, Excel dan PowerPoint, sekaligus menjadi aplikasi office yang pertama yang dapat digunakan di Windows 98. Microsoft Office 4.0 dirilis pada 17 Januari 1994.

6. Microsoft Office 4.3

Peningkatan program pada Excel, Powerpoint, Mail dan penambahan program Access sekaligus memulai penerapan sistem arsitektur 32 bit final. Microsoft Office 4.3 dirilis 02 Juni 1994 merupakan versi terakhir yang mendukung Windows 3.1 dan Windows NT 3.1.

8. Microsoft Office 95 (7.0)

Microsoft Office 95 (versi 7.0), juga dikenal sebagai Microsoft Office untuk Windows 95. Microsoft Office 95 dirilis pada 24 Agustus 1995, tak lama setelah Windows 95 diperkenalkan. MS Office 95 merupakan penerus Office 4.3 yang merupakan versi 32-bit pertama dari Microsoft Office.

Meskipun dirancang khusus untuk Windows 95, namun MS Office 95 juga kompatibel dengan Windows NT 3.51 atau yang lebih baru karena memiliki arsitektur yang sama yaitu 32-bit. Sebelumnya, Microsoft telah merilis Office 4.2 untuk Windows NT untuk beberapa arsitektur, termasuk 32-bit pada Word 6.0 untuk Windows NT dan Excel 5.0 untuk Windows NT, tetapi PowerPoint 4.0 dan Office Manager adalah 16-bit. Dengan Office untuk Windows 95, semua komponen dalam suite diganti semua kedalam arsitektur 32-bit.

9. Microsoft Office 97 (8.0)

Microsoft Office 97 (8.0) dirilis 19 November 1996 merupakan Office pertama yang menampilkan "Office Assistant", yaitu sebuah fitur yang dirancang untuk membantu pengguna melalui karakter animasi interaktif, yang dihubungkan dengan konten bantuan Office.

Asisten default adalah "Clippit", dijuluki "Clippy", atau biasa disebut "a paperclip". Fitur Office Assistant juga disertakan dalam Office 2000, Office XP namun disembunyikan secara default dan Office 2003 (tidak diinstal secara default), sebelum dihapus seluruhnya di Office 2007.

MS Office 2007 juga memperkenalkan sebuah tampilan baru yaitu "Command Bars" yang mirip dalam kemampuan dan tampilan secara visual mnyerupai menu dan toolbars.

10. Microsoft Office 2000 (9.0)

Microsoft Office 2000 versi ritel dirilis pada 7 Juni 1999 merupakan Office yang dikembangkan dan didistribusikan oleh Microsoft untuk Windows Family OS. Fitur baru di Office 2000 adalah HTML document creation and publishing dikolaborasi dengan internet. Office 2000 juga memperkenalkan PhotoDraw, raster dan vektor, serta web component serta versi Office pertama yang menggunakan penginstal Windows untuk proses instalasi.

11. Microsoft Office XP (10.0)

Microsoft Office XP dirilis 31 Mei 2001, menyediakan 3 (tiga) Service Pack (paket layanan)  yang memperkenalkan peningkatan keamanan, peningkatan stabilitas, dan bug fixes dimana setiap paket layanan tersedia sebagai versi Update Clien yang bisa diperbaharui melalui CD-ROM dan Full File Update yang terpisah yang dapat diperoleh dari melalui pengunduhan langsung secara mandiri atau melalui media penginstalan Office XP.

Service Pack 1 (SP1) dirilis pada 11 Desember 2001 dan menyertakan peningkatan kinerja dan keamanan, serta peningkatan stabilitas berdasarkan laporan kesalahan dari pengguna. SP1 juga menyelesaikan masalah yang mencegah dokumen disimpan ke Grup MSN.

Service Pack 2 (SP2), dirilis pada 21 Agustus 2002 menyertakan semua pembaruan mandiri yang tersedia sebelumnya dan juga beberapa dari yang dirilis sebelumnya termasuk patch keamanan kumulatif untuk Excel 2002 dan Word 2002 untuk mengatasi kode yang berpotensi berbahaya yang tertanam di makro.

Service Pack 3 (SP3) dirilis pada 30 Maret 2004 dan mencakup semua pembaruan yang dirilis sebelumnya, serta peningkatan stabilitas yang belum pernah dirilis sebelumnya berdasarkan laporan umpan balik dan kesalahan yang diterima dari pengguna.

12. Microsoft Office 2003 (11.0)

Office 2003 dirilis ke manufaktur pada 19 Agustus 2003, dan kemudian dirilis ke ritel pada 21 Oktober 2003, tepat dua tahun setelah rilis Windows XP. Fitur baru yang disematkan kedalam Office 2003 ini termasuk information rights management, kalobari fitur antara peningkatan dukungan untuk SharePoint, Smart tag, dan XML serta penggunaan layanan Office Online yang diperpanjang.

Office 2003 memperkenalkan dua program baru ke jajaran produk Office yakni "InfoPath" yang merupakan program untuk merancang, mengisi, dan mengirimkan data terstruktur serta "OneNote" yang berfungsi sebagai pencatat untuk membuat dan mengatur diagrams, graphics, handwritten notes, recorded audio, and text. MS Office 2003 juga memperkenalkan "Picture Manager graphics software" untuk membuka, mengelola, dan berbagi gambar digital.

13. Microsoft Office 2007 (12.0)

Office 2007 dirilis 30 Januari 2007 dengan memperkenalkan tampilan baru untuk pengguna grafis yang dinamakan "Fluent User Interface" yang menggunakan "Ribbon", dan "Office Menu", (bukan menu bars dan toolbars). Office 2007 juga memperkenalkan Office Open XML sebagai format file default di Excel, PowerPoint, dan Word. Format baru dimaksudkan untuk memfasilitasi berbagi informasi antar program, meningkatkan keamanan, mengurangi ukuran dokumen, dan memungkinkan skenario pemulihan baru.

Office 2007 juga menyertakan aplikasi baru dan server-side tools, termasuk Microsoft Office Groove, yang mengkolaborasikan kedalam suatu bisnis yang kecil, yang awalnya dikembangkan oleh Groove Networks sebelum diakuisisi oleh Microsoft pada 2005.

Selain itu juga termasuk SharePoint Server 2007,  yang mengalami perbaikan besar dari platform server untuk aplikasi Office, yang mendukung Excel Services untuk mendukung sistem server pengguna di Excel workbooks yang dibagikan secara real time oleh beberapa mesin yang dapat dapat dilihat dan di edit melalui halaman web.

14. Microsoft Office 2010 (14.0)

Microsoft Office 2010 dirilis untuk konsumen pada 15 Juni 2010. Office 2010 diberi nomor versi 14.0, untuk menghindari nomor versi 13.0 karena takhayul terkait dengan nomor 13 (tiga belas). Fitur utama Office 2010 termasuk menu file, alat kolaborasi baru, ribbon yang dapat disesuaikan, tampilan yang dilindungi, dan panel navigasi.

Microsoft Office 2010 juga hadir dengan logo baru yang mirip dengan logo 2007, kecuali berwarna emas dan dengan bentuk yang sedikit dimodifikasi.

15. Office 365

Office 365 dirilis 28 Juni 2011, dikembangkan sebagai pengganti dari Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS). Microsoft merancang platform Office 365 untuk menyatukan layanan online yang ada menjadi layanan online yang selalu up to date dengan menggabungkan Exchange Server (untuk e-mail), SharePoint (untuk jejaring sosial internal, kolaborasi, dan web situs publik), dan Lync (untuk komunikasi, VoIP, dan konferensi).

Office 365 tersebut mengalami perkembangan pesat, yang telah mengambil alih versi Office yang berdiri sendiri di perguruan tinggi maupun bisnis/perusahaan. Office 365 ini merupakan layangnan berlanggan yang kemudian hari berganti nama menjadi Microsoft Office 365 dimana mencakup versi web Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, dan program email. Selain itu, Office 365 juga menawarkan kepada pelanggan penyimpanan tak terbatas di OneDrive.

16. Microsoft Office 2013 (15.0)

Office 2013 dirilis 09 Januari 2013, dimana fitur yang dimilikinya memungkinkan kalian mendapatkan rekaman di SharePoint atau OneDrive semudah tanpa PC atau sistem orang lain. Office 2013 menawarkan interface  yang lebih bersih dan tidak campur aduk yang memungkinkan kalian memusatkan perhatian pada konten tanpa terpengaruh terhadap lawan panggilan.

17. Microsoft Office 2016 (16.0)

Pada 22 September 2015, Microsoft merilis Office 2016 untuk umum. Microsoft Office 2016 menghadirkan versi baru aplikasi desktop Office untuk Windows, termasuk Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Project, Visio, dan Access.

18. Microsoft Office 2019 (16.0)

Microsoft Office 2019 dirilis 24 September 2018, dimana hadir dengan beberapa fitur baru seperti peningkatkan fitur inking features dan sensitifitas atas tekanan yang jauh lebih baik, PowerPoint 2019 yang memiliki fitur visualisasi baru, seperti Morph dan Zoom dan Excel 2019 yang memiliki rumus dan bagan baru untuk membuat analisis data lebih canggih serta penyempurnaan pada Exchange, SharePoint, dan Skype for Business juga menyertakan pembaruan untuk meningkatkan kegunaan suara, keamanan, dan manajemen IT.

Office 2019 (untuk Windows dan Mac) adalah Office yang cukup melakukan pembelian lisensi sekali saja namun tidak dapat menerima pembaruan fitur setelah kalian membelinya. Pada 21 April 2020, Office 365 berganti nama menjadi Microsoft 365, yang juga kemudian penggunaannya ditujukan tidak hanya untuk perusahaan, tetapi juga untuk kalangan umum. Sampai sekarang, Microsoft 365 ini jadi salah satu produk unggulan Microsoft.

Microsoft 365 adalah produk layanan berlangganan milik Microsoft yang berisi aplikasi premium seperti Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, dan Access (Publisher dan Access hanya tersedia di PC). 20. Microsoft Office 2021 (16.0)

Microsoft Office 2021 diluncurkan 05 Oktober 2021, memiliki desain baru dengan ribbon interface yang diperbarui, window corners yang melengkung membulat, dan palette berwarna netral.
